Q: When building with Astro Builders, what is the payment structure?

A: Our payment method is progress payments. Please contact one of our sales team for further information.

Q: As a first time home buyer what is the usual interest rate that is applied to a mortgage?

A: Astro Builders does not usually provide finance and we are not experts in this area. The best people to answer this question would be a mortgage broker (we can refer you to our local trusted mortgage broker) or your local bank.

Q: Does a fence need a building consent?

A: Only fences that are over 1.8m in height need a building consent.

Q: Does your company do additions to existing homes?

A: As a general rule we will not do extensions unless we have some free space in our schedule or it is a previous Astro Builders job. Please contact Caleb to inquire if we have space for your project at this time. If we don't have space in our schedule currently, we will have a trusted renovation builder we can refer you to.

Q: Can I change the standard specifications?

A: Yes! You will have the opportunity to up-spec certain specifications when you meet with our in-house interior designers.

Q: How long will it take to build my home?

A: Typically our builds take will 7-9 months depending on engineers and council process times.

Q: Do you offer an independent warranty?

Yes! Absolutely. With Certified Builders NZ we have access to Halo's 10 Year Building Insurance. Read more about it here.

Q: Can I make changes to one of your standard plans?

Q: Where is my nearest show home?

As a company we've chosen to NOT have a permanent showhome for the foreseeable future, as we don't wish to contribute to New Zealand's current housing crisis by having another house sitting empty when it could be home to some awesome human beings. To counteract this, we are slowly expanding our online portfolio of photos and videos of some of our most recent builds (once our clients have had a chance to fully settle in). Keep an eye out for these as more become available on our social media channels.

Q: A lot of your plans show brick homes, can you do full timber weatherboard cladding? Also, would you build on piles or only concrete?

A: Yes, we can absolutely do full timber or Linea cladding but the costs will be different as there is different work involved to brick laying. We can potentially build on piles but it really depends on your site. The best thing to do is to get in touch with Caleb directly using our contact form to discuss these things further as he will be best equipped to talk about costs, visit your site and answer any questions you may have.

Q: Do you give quotes for people's own home designs/plans or do you only build your own designs?

Absolutely! Here at Astro Builders Ltd we don't just build our own designs, we can work with you to come up with a suitable custom plan, take inspiration from a floor plan you like or work with an existing plan.
